ABOUT UNA-USA NEBRASKA
UNA-USA Nebraska Chapter
We are Nebraskans supporting the United Nations efforts in peacekeeping, development, and human rights. We are also affiliated with the United Nations Association of the USA, a program of the United Nations Foundation. The Nebraska Division (now Chapter) was founded in 1957 under the leadership of Bertha Sellers, who attended the 1945 Conference where the UN was founded. E.N. Thompson, who had been a page at the Conference, and who funded the E.N. Thompson Forum at UNL, was also a member of UNA in Nebraska. Ms Sellers’ friend Eleanor Roosevelt was a guest at the first anniversary meeting. Importance and Advantages of Membership All residents of Nebraska who are members of the UNA-USA are automatically enrolled in the Chapter and will receive notice of meetings, activities and advocacy issues on a regular basis. Meetings, Boards, Opportunities, & Membership The Chapter meets monthly from September through June and has a formal banquet regularly on the Sunday nearest UN Day October 24. It is governed by a board elected for two-year terms at the November Meeting. |
